Holy Father,

Plant us. Take our family and put us where you want us in this city.We pray for the peace of the city. Put us where you want our lives to mix with others. Others that don’t know you, others that aren’t sure they know you. You have prepared a place for us, good soil for us to display your wonder. Plant us deeply.

Amen.

A Family History

I’ve been exploring my family history and I’m completely fascinated with these people. Though I have no knowledge of these folks, I hope I can construct a story for some of them, using whatever material I can find. My dad’s side is pretty well documented. I just want to know what life was like. It’s the stories of each period that interest me. I wonder if my grand-children will be able to read this post and feel some connection.

I've been using Ubuntu since it first came on the scene so it was natural to partition part of my new laptop (I have to have Windows for some tasks) to run it. Installed pretty smoothly. Everything just works ™, except I coudn't get my flat panel working. Well thanks to ubuntu-users list I have it working. If you have a D620 (or similar) check out the post. If you have Ubuntu you really should sign up for the ubuntu-users mailing list. It's a handy resource.

I'm a hacker really, and have no idea what my "official" job title is. I live in Chattanooga, TN with my wife (Angie) and our children (Julia – 7/97, Emily – 7/97, Sarah – 8/00 and Jack – 12/02). My company is in California, so I get to work from home. It has it advantages (and challenges). I work on resource management/planning for a manufacturing company in southern California. This blog is the story of our attempt to be church where we are.
